ABSTRACT

This study is an AP axial cervical projection examination study. Based on
the theory of Lampignanao & Kendrick (2018), cervical radiographic
examination of the ap axial projection, the direction of the beam in the axial
anteroposterior (AP) projection is 15° - 20° to the cephalad. This projection
shows the 3rd to 2nd cervical vertebral bodies, the space between the
pedicle and the intervertebral disc space is clearly visible, able to clearly
show soft tissue, bone margins and cervical trabecular Lampignano &
Kendrick (2018). Based on the author's experience during the Field Work
Practice at the Hospital, cervical radiographic examinations generally use the
AP axial projection, using angle values with values that are not considered,
even there has been no angle at all. This study aims to determine the
comparison of anatomical information on cervical axial AP projection
examination using several variations of angles.
This type of research is descriptive qualitative experimental
research. Data retrieval was carried out using one phantom which was
exposed once at each variation of the angle. The angles used are 5º, 10º,
15º and 20º cephalad. The questionnaire was filled in by three radiologists as
respondents and analyzed using descriptive methods to obtain conclusions.
Based on the results of this study, anatomical information on
variations in the angle of light on cervical AP Axial examination with
parameters showing the 3rd to 2nd cervical vertebral bodies, the space
between the pedicles is clearly visible, the intervertebral disc space is clearly
visible, clearly describes the soft tissues, bone margins and cervical
trabecula, has been assessed by 3 respondents. In the direction of the beam
with an angle of 5º cephalad, the average value is 4.75 with an unclear
category. The angle of 10 cephalad gets an average value of 6.25 with a
fairly clear category. The angle of 15 cephalad gets an average value of 7
with clear categories. The angle of 20 cephalad gets an average value of
9.25 with a very clear category.
The use of angle variations for cervical AP axial projections affects
the radiographic image, especially for the anatomical information displayed
on the variations in the angle used, the greater the angle value given, the
better the anatomical information displayed.
