PERANAN PEMERIKSAAN REPEAT CT SCAN KEPALA DALAM MENGEVALUASI TRAUMA BRAIN INJURY (TBI) (LITERATURE REVIEW)

Repeat CT Scan on a CT Scan of the Head with clinical Traumatic Brain Injury really needs to be considered to support the diagnosis so that it is more informative. It is not uncommon for patients to undergo further re-imaging after the first CT scan is performed or a repeat CT scan is performed. Even CT Scans are performed more than twice with the same examination, however, repeat CT Scans can increase the concern about radiation received by patients. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of repeat CT Scan of the head in evaluating Trauma Brain Injury (TBI).
This type of research is descriptive with a literature review approach. This research was conducted by collecting scientific articles from ScienceDirect, Pubmed, and Google Scholar published in 2011 - 2020. The keywords used repeated CT Scan Trauma Brain Injury, repeat Head CT, and routine repeat Head CT. The articles obtained were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria so that 8 relevant scientific articles were obtained to be used as literature sources and then synthesized.
The results of this study indicate that the role of repeat CT Scan of the head in evaluating brain injury is to prevent neurological damage, so that secondary injuries do not arise, observe the development of lesions, evaluate patients after experiencing brain injury, and can determine the next course of action in surgical intervention. The resulting diagnostic information may indicate ventricular and midline shift, subarachnoid hemorrhage, presence of EDH, ICH and contusions tending to increase or new lesions to appear.
