ABSTRACT
Background : Maternal mortality is a parameter for the quality of health care in a country. The direct causes of maternal and infant morbidity and mortality include preeclampsia / eclampsia. The incidence of preeclampsia / eclampsia in RSUD KRT Setjonegoro Wonosobo increased from 2018 to 172 with maternal death due to preeclampsia / eclampsia. 4 cases, up to 198 in 2019 with 6 cases of maternal death due to preeclampsia / eclampsia. The aim of the study was to determine the risk factors for the incidence of preeclampsia / eclampsia to women delivery at RSUD KRT Setjonegoro Wonosobo in 2020.
Method : This type of research is analytic observation with a retrospective approach using a case-control study design. The research was conducted at RSUD KRT Setjonegoro Wonosobo from January 2020 to December 2020 with a population of 1,802 labor, with a sample of 250 (125 cases and 125 controls) selected by simple random sampling. Using secondary data from medical records with a checklist research instrument, data collection was then carried out by univariate analysis, chi-square test, and odds ratio.
Results : The risk factors that were statistically significantly associated with preeclampsia / eclampsia were a history of preeclampsia / eclampsia in the previous pregnancy (p-value 0.016 OR 3.13), a history of chronic hypertension (p-value 0.010 OR 4.00 ). Factors unrelated to preeclampsia / eclampsia were parity (p-value 0.119 OR 1.50), mother's age (p-value 0.070 OR 1.66), multiple pregnancy (p-value 0.053 OR 4.21).
Conclusion : This study shows that the risk factors associated with the incidence of preeclampsia / eclampsia are a history of preeclampsia / eclampsia and a history of chronic hypertension. Suggestion: Health workers in the hospital should always improves knowledge and skills in order to improve the quality of service to provide midwifery care in early detection, provision of information and treatment towards high risk pregnancy, for family and public, should motivates pregnant mothers to do routine check ups, for edicational institution, should provide enough theory and skills for practice, and need to do similar research with larger scope, bigger sample and tested data collection tools.
Keywords: risk factors, preeclampsia / eclampsia, chronic hypertension.
