THE EFFECT OF MORINGA OLEIFERA LEAF EXTRACT IN REDUCTION OF BLOOD GLUCOSE LEVELS IN PATIENTS WITH TYPE2 DIABETES MELLITUS. A LITERATURE REVIEW
XMLConducting a literature review is to get a theoretical foundation that can support the solution of the
problem being studied especially about the evidence of Moringa Oleifera leaf extract effective in the
reduction of Blood Glucose in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Research articles were reviewed from
electronic databases including Google Scholar, Science Direct, PubMed, ProQuest, and from
relevant textbooks conducted from 2009 - 2020. Moringa Oleifera has high antioxidant, the
composition of Moringa Oleifera leaf extract has the effect of lowering blood sugar levels. It is due to
one of the high content of Moringa leaves are flavonoids that quercetin-3-glucoside. The concept of
Moringa oleifera leaf extract with nanoparticle technology is assumed to be absorbed and assimilated
by the body quickly and adequately in the reduction of blood glucose levels. From several
polyphenols above, Q3G has the effect of lowering blood sugar levels. Q3G affects glucose intake in
the small intestinal mucosa so that the time of absorption of glucose into the blood is longer which
in turn lowers blood sugar levels. The effect is maximal in the preparation of nanoparticles and will
be investigated by researchers soon.
