OPTIMASI NILAI SENSITIVITY ENCODING (SENSE) TERHADAP PEMERIKSAAN MRI CERVICAL PADA KASUS HERNIA NUCLEUS PULPOSUS (HNP)

Hernia Nucleus Pulposus (HNP) is a pathology of cervical vertebrae is a disorder that occurs in the intervertebral discs due to pressure and torn or due to degenerative diseases, causing narrowing and suppression of the spinal nerve. Cervical MRI examination can support the diagnosis with cases of Hernia Nucleus Pulposus (HNP). But one of the weaknesses of MRI is a long examination, an effort that can be done is by implementing Parallel Imaging. Parallel imaging has a parameter that is the acceleration factor (R-factor). Increased R-factors can shorten the inspection time. The purpose of this paper is to determine the optimization of the Sensitivity Encoding (SENSE) value of the cervical MRI examination in the case of Hernia Nucleus Pulposus (HNP).
This type of research is descriptive with a literature study approach. This data collection method is the documentation of finding and extracting data from documents in the form of relevant journals. Literature reviews were obtained from searches using the American Journal of Neuroradiology and the National Center for Biotechnology Information. The keywords used in the search were Parallel Imaging, Sensitivity Encoding (SENSE), MRI cervical HNP Parallel Imaging. Three journals were obtained to be analyzed descriptively by reviewing them and putting them into a table containing the author's name, year, research title, research method, background and research results.
The results showed that the three journals applied parallel imaging. The results of the review stated that using R factor 2 can reduce examination time and obtain sufficient results in assessing anatomical characteristics (facet joints, central spinal canal, neural foramina, nerve roots, disks, spinal cord) and pathology that can confirm the diagnosis. This is very useful in cervical MRI examinations because movement of breathing and peristalsis can interfere with image quality, especially in patients with severe pain complaints in certain positions, so that the excess of Sensitivity Encoding (SENSE) can optimize in showing anatomical information on cervical MRI examinations.
