PROSEDUR PEMERIKSAAN RADIOGRAFI VERTEBRA LUMBOSAKRAL PADA KASUS LOW BACK PAIN (LBP) (Kajian Teori)

Research on lumbosacral vertebral radiographic examinations has been carried out in low back pain (LBP) cases. The background of this research is that the procedures used are not in accordance with the theory in Bontrager’s book that only uses AP and Lateral projections. The purpose of this study was to determine the procedure of lumbosacral vertebral radiographic examination in low back pain (LBP) cases and the role of Oblique projections in the context of diagnosing according to theoretical studies.
This type of research is a descriptive study with a literature study approach. Collection was carried out in April to May 2020 through Google Scholar and repository with keywords of lumbosacral radiography, low back pain, and radiographic lumbosacral projections. Data analysis was carried out by summarizing or reviewing relevant journals and comparing them with the theory so that they could conclusions and suggestions are taken.
From the results of research based on literature studies state that for lumbosacral vertebrae radiographic examination procedures, before examination the patient is asked to change clothes and remove object that can cause artifact. The preparation of tools and materials include: X – ray planes, tapes measuring 35 x 42 cm, Computed Radiography (CR), printers, and patient clothes. The examination is carried out using AP and Lateral projections. AP projection can display lumbar vertebral bodies, intervertebral joints, spinous processes, transverse processes, and sacro iliaca joints. Lateral projection can display lumbar vertebral bodies, intervertebral joints, and spinous processes. While the use of Oblique projections can display the facet joints and scotty dog images clearly so that it can provide an important role to assist in establishing the diagnosis of lumbosacral vertebra examination in cases of low back pain (LBP).
