Turbo factor is the number of rephasing 180˚ pulses that will fill the space in each TR used in the TSE sequence. K-space initially filled one by one becomes concurrent which causes a reduction in scanning time but will cause a blurring image that can affect image quality and anatomical information on MRI images. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of turbo factor variations on image quality and differences in turbo factor variation on anatomical information and to know the optimal turbo factor values for image quality and anatomical information on MRI examination of sagittal cervical T1WI TSE sequences.
This type of research is quantitative with an experimental approach. In this study a linear regression test was conducted to determine the effect of image quality and continued the one way Anova test to determine the value of the optimal turbo factor on image quality. While on anatomical information and image blurring artifacts, the Kappa test was used to see the level of agreement between respondents and then Friedman test to see differences in variations in turbo factors on anatomical information and image blurring artifacts, then see the optimal turbo factor values in the Fiedman test with mean rank.
The results showed that there was influence on variations in turbo factors on SNR image quality of 28.2% and CNR 33.5% and decreases in SNR values, CNR and time of scanning for each increase in turbo factor values. There is also a difference in the variation of the turbo factor on anatomic information and sagittal slice MRI image artifacts with the T1WI TSE sequence. These results are due to each phase encoding there is a difference in amplitude which will cause a reduction in signal intensity in the image. The highest mean rank value for SNR and CNR image quality lies in the turbo factor 2 value, while for anatomical information on the turbo factor 3 value and image blurring artifact on the turbo factor 2 and 3 values.
