ABSTRACT
Hernia nucleus pulposus (HNP) Cervical has 18,2% on male dan 13,6% on female incidence. Now MRI is an imaging modality commonly used in evaluating cervical vertebrae, to get a good pathological image requires several sequences, for example Multi Echo Gradient T2 (MEDIC) and T2 STIR, both have different sequence base but have similaritie good to display in spinal cord disease and nerve. The purpose of this study is to know the differences in anatomical image information between T2 MEDIC and T2 STIR axial MRI cervical in the case of HNP and which is better.
This quantitative descriptive study with an experimental approach was carried out in the General Hospital of Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto comparing the anatomic image of cervical MRI between axial T2 MEDIC and T2 STIR. The sample was 10 with an indication of HNP abnormalities. The results of image information will assessment by 2 radiologist included anatomical and pathological clarity of Intervertebral Disc, Spinal Cord, Spinal Canal, Disc Bulge and Nerve Root Compression. The data will be agreement tested with Cohen's Kappa and different tests with the Wilcoxon Test and mean ranks .
There are differences in anatomical image information between T2 MEDIC weighted and T2 STIR weighted axial MRI cervical of HNP 0,047. In general, T2 STIR (19,54) produces more optimal information on the anatomy of MRI cervical images in HNP cases compared to the use of T2 MEDIC (18,00). However, the T2 MEDIC sequence is optimal in several anatomies like Intervertebral Disc and Disc Bulge. The anatomy of Spinal Canal, Spinal Cord and Nerve Root Compression it is optimal for T2 STIR sequences.
