Background. Hypothermia can be defined as the inner body temperature below 36 ° C.
The human body is able to regulate the temperature in the thermonetral zone, which is
between 36.5 ° C-37.5 ° C. Beyond this temperature, the body's response to regulating
temperature will actively balance heat production and heat loss in the body. There are
two anesthesia techniques, namely general anesthesia and spinal anesthesia, each
anesthetic technique has the side effects of one of the common side effects, both general
and spinal anesthesia are shivering. The incidence of shivering during anesthesia was
reported to range from 5-48% in patients undergoing general anesthesia and about 33-
56.7% in patients undergoing spinal anesthesia.
The purpose . Obtain an overview of the prevention of hypothermia in Caesarean
patients with spinal anesthesia
Research methodology. This research was carried out in the Central Surgical
Installation Room of Tugurejo Hospital Semarang on 27 July - 4 August 2018. The
design of this study used a case study. The population of this case study was all patients
with sectio caesaria with spinal anesthesia at the Central Surgical Installation of RSUD
Dr. Adhyatma Semarang. the number of samples in this study is 4 respondents.
Research uses the format of nursing care using assessment. In addition, researchers used
Animec tools to warm infusion fluids and thermometers to measure temperature
Results. Based on a case study of 4 respondents who were given intravenous liquid
heating elements using Animec. The four respondents did not experience hypothermia
when in the pre-induction and recovery room. But 3 respondents experienced
hypothermia in the mild category in intra-surgery and 1 respondent who did not
experience hypothermia during the pre-induction room, intra-operation or recovery
room.
