Based on the result of basic health research 2013 state that the severity of tooth decay and mouth is occupied by women. Eating vegetables and fruits can protect the health of the body including in maintaining body weight. Chewing fibrous and juicy foods. Such as fruits can clean the teeth because it has the ability to perform of self cleansing and can clean dental plaque.
This study aims to describe the differences of saliva pH before and after chewing mango fruit, before and after chewing star fruit. The type of research used is quasi-experiment research, the design in this study using pretest-postest. Sampling technique in this research is experiment, observation, and pH paper strip. Analysis og the data described in the form of frequency distribution table.
The result of this study shiw the average value of salivary pH before chewing the mango fruit is 6,7 , with a neutral category, and after chewing the mango fruit is be 8,2 with a bases category. While the average value of salivary pH before chewing the star fruit is 7,1 with a bases category, and after chewing the star fruit is be 8,5 with a bases category. The conclusion obtained after chewing the mango fruit and star fruit found the saliva pH state to be a bases or neutral to bases. The authors suggest eating mango and star fruit eaither to prevent the occurrence of appearance a cavities, if the initial pH state is in the acid category. But if the initial pH state is in neutral or bases category, then you should consume the fruit of mango and star fruit balanced by drinking water to prevent appearance the tartar
