One factor causes the onset of dental and oral health problems in children is a behavior factor, this is shown by the children who neglect of dental and oral health. One of the appropriate methods to teach children about how a good and correct brushing teeth is the demonstration method. Where the method of demonstration is one way of presenting information in a manner showing directly the object or indicate a process or procedure. The purpose of this study is to see how the Act of brushing teeth.
This type of research used is analytic by using research design of quasi experiment, using design of pre and post test with control Group Design. As for the sample in this research as much as 52 students from two schools where every school was taken 26 students. Analysis of data using the wilcoxon signed ranked test and mann whitney U Test.
Wilcoxon statistical test showed that there are significant changes of the value of pre and post-test on the students that given by counseling with the method of demonstration of brushing teeth with p-value = 0000 (< 0.05). While mann whitney test showed that there are significant differences in the action of brushing teeth between who given counseling by the method of demonstration brushing teeth with who was not given counseling by the method of demonstration brushing teeth. The counselling with demonstration method of brushing teeth effective for improving act of brushing teeth on students in Tinanding Elementary School.
