HUBUNGAN STATUS SOSIAL EKONOMI ORANG TUA TERHADAP STATUS KARIES PADA ANAK SDN NGESREP 01 SEMARANG

Caries is a major problem in the child's oral cavity. Primary school-aged children are particularly susceptible to caries, as they still experience tooth decay and growth. The results of screening at SDN Ngesrep 01 Semarang, 5th and 6th grade many experienced caries (DMF-T). The high number of caries caused by several factors, including the socioeconomic status of parents. Socioeconomic status is one of the factors affecting health status. Parental awareness of dental health is also influential. The purpose of this study to determine the relationship of socioeconomic status of parents to caries status in children SDN Ngesrep 01 Semarang by using questionnaires anddentalexamination.
The research used Quantitative Descriptive method, observation type research, and cross sectional approach. The population of this research are 5th and 6th grade students with 27 samples chosen by purposive sampling technique. Method of taking data in primary with DMF-T examination and filling the identity of respondent's parents in the form of questionnaire.Variable free research that is the socioeconomic status of parents and the dependentvariableofcariesstatus(DMF-T).
The results showed a high DMF-T index, ie 17 children (62.9%). Parental education is mostly low category as many as 12 people (44.5%), occupation mostly self-employed 11 people (40.7%), income mostly low category 15 people (55,6%), number of children in family and amount children are mostly medium category ie 16 people (59,2%). Children with low socioeconomic status have a DMF-T index higher than children with high socioeconomic status. This indicates the lower the socioeconomic status of the respondent's parents the higher the child DMF-T index.
