One of the various pulse squence used in Brain MR examination is Difussion Weighted Image (DWI). In DWI squence, ‘b’ value which should be selected by operator when setting parameter, influence signal intensity. RSUD dr Soetomo always using ‘b’ value 1000 s/mm2 with there is various patology. The purpose of this reseach is to find out the influence of ‘b’ value setting (1000,1500,2000 s/mm2) in signal intensity and image quality and determine the best setting of the three selected ’b’ value in producing high signal intensity of the DWI.
This research is an pre-experimental reseach. This study using MR GE 1,5 Tesla in RSUD dr Soetomo Surabaya. 18 image radiograph of the DWI sequence Brain MR with three ’b’ value setting were produced. Three radiologist then assessed of white amtter, grey matter, proc.coronoid, basal ganglia and the lession. To get the image quality, SNR CNR measurement with Region of interest (ROI) to obtain an average value signal and compare with the average standart deviation of the background. The result were then alnalized by using Friedman and Repeated Annova.
Result showed that there was a difference in signal intensity and image quality among three ‘b’ value setting with p value
