In Indonesia dental and oral health becomes a problem, one of them is the problem of oral and dental hygiene. Factors affecting the dental and oral hygiene status are behavioral. Dental and oral hygiene is influenced by individual oral hygiene maintenance behaviors. Manifestations of diabetes mellitus in the oral cavity are among others xerostomia (dry mouth). Saliva has a self-cleansing effect, in which the flow can function as a rinse and food from the mouth, when the saliva flow decreases so it can become a field for growth and growth. Preliminary study results in 30 patients with diabetes mellitus found OHI-S with bad status. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship of dental and oral hygiene care of patients with diabetes mellitus with oral and dental hygiene status (OHI-S), with the benefit of research to provide a useful study for the development of knowledge in the field of oral and dental health.
The research method is descriptive analytic, with the research approach is cross sectional. The number of samples in this study were as many as 60 people. Data analysis was done by univariate analysis, bivariate analysis of kendall tau test and multivariate analysis of logistic regression test.
