Coconut water contains maximum 3 gram sugar every 100 ml, meanwhile packing coconut water contains 4 gram sugar every 100 ml, where that sugar content can affect the saliva pH condition in mouth. This research aims to find out the difference between consuming the pure coconut water with the packing coconut water to the saliva pH in Dental Health Major Semarang Polytechnic of Health Ministry of Health
The type of the research is Experiment with Quasi Experimental or Eksperimen Semu method. The population in this research amounted to 109 students of Dental Health Major Semarang Polytechnic of Health Ministry of Health where the 22 samples taken from 20% of the population. The technique of sampling that used in this research was simple random sampling. The sample divided in two, that are 11 students drink the pure coconut water and 11 students drink the packing coconut water.
The result of the research shows that the average of saliva pH is 6,8 after drink the pure coconut water, meanwhile the average of saliva pH is 6,7 after drink the packing coconut water. Packing coconut water contains more sugar that cause the saliva pH lower than saliva pH of the pure coconut water. The conclusion of this research there is a difference between saliva pH after consuming pure coconut water and packing coconut water where the saliva pH becomes lower after drinking packing coconut water with the difference is 0,1. Therefore student of Dental Health recommended to consume pure coconut water instead of packing coconut water.
