The type of food consumed is one of the factors that can affect the pH of saliva. One type of food that develops salivary pH is carbohydrate such as getuk. 80% citizens of Magelang City are like to consume this snack. Food containing carbohydrates such as getuk, is a food component that have a role in decreasing salivary pH. This research aims to determine whether there is influence of vibration to change the degree of acidity (pH) of saliva to residents of Karet Village of Magelang.
The type of this research used is descriptive quantitative. The design of this research used the design of one group pre test and post test. The population of this research is Karet village residents of Magelang City which require 120 residents with sample amount 30 people. The sample used is random sampling method. In this research salivary pH was measured before and after treatment. The measuring instrument of this research is pH meter. Data generated from the research results are displayed in the form of frequency tables.
In this researh, the consumption of getuk proved to have an effect on salivary pH. The average pH saliva of Karet Village residents who previously had basic criteria, after consuming getuk salivary pH decreased towards acid. The average salivary pH before consuming getuk is 7.2 , average saliva after consuming getuk is 6.8. Difference of salivary pH change between before consuming getuk and after consuming getuk that is 0,4. To stabilize salivary pH to remain neutral, it can be done with gargling and drinking water after consuming carbohydrate-containing food and must be balanced between maintaining oral health by brushing thee teeth well
