Mechanical radiotherapy on parotid cancer according to Murat (2010) was performed using AP and Lateral field. However, the technique of radiotherapy in cases of parotid cancer were performed at the Radiotherapy department of Dr. Hasan Sadikin done using Lateral field. This study aims to determine the treatment of radiation therapy in cases of parotid cancer to find out the reasons and rationale use Lateral technique using a linac energy - electron. In this parotid cancer cases in the Installation Radiotherapy Hospital Dr. Hasan Sadikin.
This research is a case study of palliative approach. Data were collected at the beginning of the month 1 May to 31 May 2019 in the Installation Radiotherapy Hospital Dr. Hasan Sadikin. Data collected by observation, interview, and documentation. The subjects were radiotherapy radiographers one person, one person and one medical physicist radiation oncology specialists. The data have been obtained were processed by the stage of making a transcript and data reduction using categorization table. Analysis using Interactive models.
The results showed that the treatment of radiation therapy in cases of parotid cancer in Installing Radiotherapy Hospital Dr. Hasan Sadikin beginning of the planning of radiation, action simulator, TPS, verification and irradiation. The reason the use of techniques and the use of energy- electron Lateral, with a total dose of 60 Gy 2 Gy perfraksi, after the irradiation every 5 times or 10 times the exposure of patients to control periodically, as simple as possible to reduce the recurrence rate and the dose given as much as possible.
