TEKNIK BRAKHITERAPI SUPERFISIAL SEBAGAI BOOSTER KANKER PAYUDARA DI UNIT RADIOTERAPI INSTALASI RADIOLOGI RSUP DR. KARIADI SEMARANG

Based on observations at the Radiotherapy Unit of Dr. RSUP Kariadi Semarang, there are breast cancer patients who after doing external radiation as much as 50 Gy, followed by a superficial brachytherapy booster. This study was conducted at the Radiotherapy unit of Dr. Kariadi Hospital in Semarang with the aim to determine the procedure, technique, reason for choosing the superficial brachytherapy technique in breast cancer booster patients and to determine the dose distribution in the superficial brachytherin booster breast cancer technique.
Types of research done in this paper is a qualitative descriptive study with case study approach, by observation, interview, and documentation. The data obtained were processed and examined data quotations with appropriate references to discuss the existing problems.
The results of the study showed that the superficial booster breast cancer brachytherapy technique in the Radiotherapy unit of Dr. RSUP Kariadi Semarang includes patient preparation, simulation, planning process in the Treatment Planning System (TPS) and by applying a solid silicon plate that is connected to the transfer tube according to the number of channels on silicon. The dose used is 5 x 2 Gy. Reasons for choosing the superficial brachytherapy technique in breast cancer booster cases at Dr. RSUP Kariadi Semarang is to provide a homogeneous dose of the target tumor. By using the superficial brachytherapy technique, the dose received at the radiation target shows a percentage of 100%.
