Parallel imaging is one of the parameters that can decrease examination time so MRI data can obtained more quickly. There are two types of commonly used parallel imaging techniques, namely GRAPPA and mSENSE.. The purpose of this research is to see the difference of anatomical information on T2 FLAIR GRAPPA and mSENSE sequences, and to know which parallel imaging technique are better.
This type of research is an experimental study. The research was conducted by using MRI Siemens Magnetom Skyra 3 Tesla at Radiology Installation of RSUD Dr. Soedono Madiun. The data are 10 MRI images of T2 FLAIR GRAPPA sequences and 10 MRI images of T2 FLAIR mSENSE sequences from 10 patients performing MRI brain examinations. The assessed anatomical information was thalamus, basal ganglia, caudate nucleus, white matter, gray matter, and lateral sulcus, the assessment was done by two observer. The results of the assessment were analyzed using the wilcoxon statistical test and result of mean rank.
The assessment results show that there is a difference between the use of T2 FLAIR GRAPPA and mSENSE indicated by p-value results of wilcoxon statistical test. In the MRI brain sequence T2 FLAIR the GRAPPA parallel imaging technique is better than the mSENSE parallel imaging technique because on mSENSE there is artifacts in several image and based on results of mean rank with value 6,50 on GRAPPA and value 0,00 on mSENSE.
