TATALAKSANA RADIOTERAPI PADA PASIEN KARSINOMA NASOFARING DENGAN TEKNIK BOOSTER SATU LAPANGAN MENGGUNAKAN PESAWAT TELETERAPI COBALT-60 DI INSTALASI RADIOTERAPI RSUD. PROF. DR. MARGONO SOEKARJO PURWOKERTO
XMLBooster technique of nasopharyngeal carcinoma according to Beyzadeoglu (2010), is done with brachytherapy wich is placing radioactive source as close as possible with the target or with electron booster to achive the dose. Booster technique on nasopharyngeal carcinoma in Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto Regional General Hospital was done by one field booster technique using cobalt-60 teletherapy unit. This research aims to know the radiotherapy procedure of nasopharyngeal carcinoma in radiotherapy installation of Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto Regional General Hospital,to know the reason of using one field booster technique, and the reason of using cobalt-60 teletherapy unit for booster technique.
This research is a qualitative research with case study approach. Data was collected by structured observation, study documentation and indepth interview. Subjects of this research is a radiation oncology physician, a medical physicist and three radiation therapy technologist in Radiotherapy Installation of Prof. Dr. Margono Purwokerto Regional General Hospital. Data was analyzed by an interactive model.
The result of this research showed that radiotherapy procedure of nasopharyngeal carcinoma in Radiotherapy Installation of Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto Regional General Hospital started from consultation with radiation oncology physician, simulation process, calculating the result of simulation process, then treatment delivery used 3 (three) radiation fields. it was opposing lateral fields and anteroposterior (AP) Supraclavicular field with 2 Gy dose per fraction as much as 35 times irradiation with 70 Gy total dose. The reason of using one field booster technique was to get the total dose, the booster was done, a lump in lymph node was still there and using a radiation field because it was more practical for radiation therapy technologist to deliver the treatment. The reason of using cobalt-60 teletherapy unit for booster technique was to avoid the damage of lymph nodes tissue, more simple and more comfortable for patients.
