POSYANDU CADRE EMPOWERMENT USING KMGS FOR DENTAL AND MOUTH HEALTH STATUS OF PREGNANT WOMEN JAMBI CITY IN THE YEAR 2013

One form of education that can be done to improve the public dental health is through the empowerment of the PKK as health cadres in Posyandu. The health workers participation is done by teaching and training in how to use the Kartu Menuju Gigi Sehat (KMGS) to determine the presence or absence of caries and dental plaque on toddlers and how to maintain oral health status of children under five years as well as oral health in pregnant women. Posyandu empowerment activities are expected to be able to improve the oral health status of pregnant women and children under five years to create the new healthy generation. The purpose of this study to determine the influence of cadre's empowerment using KMGS on oral health status of pregnant women in the city of Jambi’s Posyandu in 2013.
This study used an experimental method by training Posyandu cadres, and the cadres provide counselling to pregnant women on study case. The sample consisted of 54 pregnant women as cases, and 25 pregnant women as a control.
The results showed pregnant mother's knowledge about oral health, average knowledge before given counselling by a cadre is 1,757-16.04, after the elucidation is 2.97-0.158 and the mean difference between before and after counselling is 13.063-1.705. Statistical test results obtained value score: 0,000, which means rejecting H0. There was a significant difference between knowledge before and after counselling. OHI-S in pregnant women before being given counselling by a cadre average is OHI-S 1.90-0.727, after counselling average is OHI-S 1, 82-0.525 and the mean difference between before and after counselling is 0.076-0.675. Statistical test results obtained value score: 0.320, which means failed to reject H0. There was no significant difference between the OHI-S before and after the oral health Counselling. Dental and oral health status based on KMGS average before counselling is 0.44-0.549. After counselling, obtained an average of 0.43-0.547. Statistical test results obtained value score: 0.320, which means failed reject H0. There was no significant difference between KMGS before and after training
