PENGARUH PEMBERIAN MADU TERHADAP PERUBAHAN STATUS GIZI PADA BALITA GIZI KURANG
XMLBACKGROUND: In nutrition the underfive children are among the vulnerable community group in nutrition. Malnutrition does not occur suddenly, but it started with the insufficient weight gain. Body weight changes of toddlers in whole times was an early indication in nutritional status of children. The direct caused by the imbalanced consumption of foods, which is the are not able to fulfill the body's needs as they should be. Thus affecting the immune system become weak, and this will cause infectious diseases such as diarrhea, febris. Honey was able to complete the nutrition needs of body.
OBJECTIVE: To analyze the effect of honey towards malnutrition status change on toddlers in work area of Lopok Public Health Center, Sumbawa.
METHODS: The type of study was quantitative study, by using Quasi Experiment design with pretest-posttest with control group design. Total samples in this study were 60 which were divided into 2 groups: 30 toddlers in intervention group and 30 others in control group. We use simple random sampling as sampling technique. Analysis techniques for the results of nutritional status pre and post intervention by honey were Mann Whitney and because distribution data not were normal.
RESULTS
There was a significant difference in mean of malnutrition toddlers nutritional status after giving intervention with p value=0.000, it can be concluded there was an effect of honey on the improvement of nutritional status of toddlers.
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
Providing honey can be used as a recommendation to incrase toddlers appetite and improve nutritional status.
