PEMANFAATAN TEKNIK FAT SUPPRESSION PADA MRI KNEE JOINT DENGAN KASUS LIGAMENTUM TEARS

Ligament tears are one of the ligament injuries that most often occur more specifically in the Anterior Cruciate Ligament. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is one of the examinations to detect ligament tears in the knee joint. In the knee joint MRI examination there is the use of fat suppression techniques that can help in diagnosing. Fat suppression has 6 types that is fatsat, water excitation, DIXON, STIR, SPAIR, and SPIR. Techniques that the authors have encountered in the field for use in examining knee joint are fat saturation and Spectral Adiabatic Inversion Recovery (SPAIR), so that the fat saturation and SPAIR techniques were selected for comparison in this study. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of fat suppression techniques in visualizing the ligament tear in the knee joint.
This research is a descriptive study with a study literature review method. Data is collected by the documentation method with the database used is Google scholar, Science direct, Pubmed, RSNA. Data processing is done by collecting and reducing according to inclusion criteria. Then a review is used to draw conclusions and suggestions at the end of the study.
The results of this study get 7 journals related to fat saturation and SPAIR. From the study of 7 journals obtained showed that using the fat suppression technique can help differentiate fat from pathology in addition, the use of fat saturation increases sensitivity in exposing water-containing tissue so that the pathology is clearer so that it can help detect ligament tears. The use of SPAIR type is considered superior compared to fat saturation because the use of SPAIR has the highest accuracy value of 96.5% compared to fat saturation which has the highest accuracy value of 90.4% when compared to the findings on arthroscopy.
