PERANAN SEKUEN PROTON DENSITY FAT SATURATION UNTUK MENAMPILKAN ANATOMI DAN PATOLOGI PADA MRI SENDI LUTUT (STUDI LITERATUR)

MRI of the knee joint is an MRI examination procedure to show the anatomy and pathology of the knee joint such as, seeing abnormalities in the ligaments, tumors, bursitis, degenarative, patellar bone abnormalities, and meniscus tear. MRI examination of the knee joint is usually done with some sequences like STIR, proton density fat saturation, T2WI, dan 3D GRE. But according to some journals there is a mandatory sequences in the MRI examination of the knee joint is the proton density fat saturation sequence because it is known to provide clear anatomic and pathological information for the knee joint. In addition, the MRI examination of the knee joint of the proton density fat saturation sequence can also provide a more informative picture to reveal the ligaments that exist in the knee joint. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of proton density fat saturation sequences on MRI examination of the knee joint.
The type of research conducted by the author is to use a qualitative method with a literature study approach, in which the author collects relevant journals related to the use of the sequence of proton density fat saturation after that conduct analysis of some of these journals.
From the four journals that the author reviewed, it can be concluded that the use of the Proton Density Fat Saturation sequence in MRI examination of the knee joint can clearly display the anatomy and pathology of the knee joint such as anterior edema, rupture posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), abnormalitas in the knee joint, and osteoarthritis. The Proton Density Fat Saturation sequence can be called a routine sequence in the MRI examination of the knee joint because it can shorten the examination time so as to reduce the discomfort of patients.
