XMLINES DWI KENCANA Effect of Pre-Surgical Physical Exercise on Post-Operational Awareness Recovery
Surgery and anesthesia are complex events that are tense for the client and are experiences that can cause anxiety. Clients with major surgery will be given General Anesthesia which has complications, therefore the need to provide understanding and pre-surgical physical exercises that are useful for postoperative recovery of consciousness. Nurses only provide routine care in the form of deep breathing. Preoperative physical exercise is given in the form of deep breathing exercises, effective cough and ROM exercises.
The aim of the study was to determine the effect of preoperative physical exercise on postoperative consciousness recovery.
This research uses Quasi Experiment research with post test only design. The study population was the average client with General Anesthesia in IBS Diponegoro National Hospital, Semarang with a sample of 60 respondents. The treatment group received pre-surgical physical exercise for 2x15 minutes a day before surgery, the control group was only given deep breathing. Measuring instrument using Aldrete Score. Data analysis using the Man Whitne test.
The results of this study showed that there was a significant effect on the group given preoperative physical exercise on postoperative consciousness recovery at 5, 10, and 15 minutes. (p
