PENGARUH EKSTRAK DAUN WUNGU (GRAPTOPHYLLUM PICTUM) SEBAGAI OBAT KUMUR TERHADAP pH DAN KUANTITAS SALIVA

The percentage of dental caries increases as the human civilization increases
too. By treatment and medication itself, caries cannot be overcome, so we must pay
attention to the prevention field. Saliva plays an important role in the caries forming
process. The study about chemical stimulation (tasting) proves that it can increase
the pH of the oral cavity. The various effects of herbal mouthwash on oral hygiene
raise a lot of attention, so it is worth to be researched. Wungu leaves extract
(graptophyllum pictum) have been studied and proved that it contains antibacterial
properties. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of wungu leaf
extract (graptophyllum pictum) 30%, 60%, 90% as a mouthwash on pH and
quantity of the saliva.
The research method that is used in this study was an experiment, with
research design post-test group design. The samples were 60 people, taken by using
purposive sampling technique. The data was analyzed by using Independent t-test
and One Way Anova testing.
After gargling with extra wungu's mouthwash, the pH examination of the
saliva is more optimal at 07.00 and 14.00 WIB with p value
