Dental caries is a dental tissue disease characterized by tissue damage, starting from the surface of the tooth extending towards the pulp. Children aged 6-12 years have a high risk of dental caries, because at that age children have the habit of consuming cariogenic foods. This study aims to determine the relationship between the habit of brushing teeth and consuming cariogenic foods with the incidence of dental caries in 5th grade students of Bulusan Elementary School in Tembalang District, Semarang City.
The type of research used is Analytical Survey using amodel case control. The sample in this study were grade 5 students of Bulusan Elementary School with 30 students usingtechniques systematic random sampling. The analysis used is thetest Chi-Square to see the relationship with the incidence of dental caries in 5th grade students of Bulusan Elementary School.
The statistical test results show the habit of brushing and consumingfoods cariogenichas a significant relationship with the incidence of dental caries in 5th grade students of Bulusan Elementary School.
