THE ISLAMIC RELIGIOUS MUSIC THERAPY TO DECREASE BLOOD PRESSURE IN ELDERLY WITH HYPERTENSION

Introduction : Elderly are a vulnerable group in decline physically, mentally, and socially.
Physical deterioration in the elderly can be seen from the vulnerability of the elderly to
degenerative diseases such as hypertension. In 2013 the prevalence rate of hypertension in
Indonesia reached 31.7%. One way to lower blood pressure in hypertensive patients is to
perform music therapy. Music therapy can help a person feel relaxed, giving rise to
physiological effects such as regular pulse and lowers the resistance in the peripheral
vascular.
Aim : This study aims to know the influence of Islamic religious music therapy to decrease
blood pressure in the elderly with hypertension.
Methods : This study design is a Pre-Experimental One Group Pre-Post Test Design with 54
respondents. Selection of the samples in this study using purposive sampling method.
Results : The results showed the average gap reduction in blood pressure after treatment of
Islamic religious music is systolic 6.03 mmHg and diastolic 4.14 mmHg with p
