EKSTRAK BUAH TOMAT MEMPERBAIKI STATUS ANEMIA PADA IBU HAMIL YANG MENDAPATKAN SUPLEMENTASI TABLET FE (Studi di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Kota Semarang)

Background: The prevalence of anemia in the world ranges from 40-88%, non-pregnant women 29% and pregnant women aged 15-49 years 38%, government programs in preventing anemia with the administration of Fe. The highest tomato content containing vit.c is given with Fe tablets to speed up the absorption process and can improve anemia status.
Objective: To investigate whether the administration of tomato extract can improve the anemia status in pregnant women anemia who get supplementation of Fe tablet.
Methods: The type of research was Quasy Experiment, pretest posttest with the control group design, the independent variable was the administration of tomato fruit extract 660 mg / capsule, the dependent variable was hemoglobin level, hematocrit, and the number of erythrocytes, sampling technique using purposive sampling, the number of samples 26 trimester anemia pregnant women II who received supplementation of Fe tablets which was divided into a control group (administration of Fe tablets) and treatment (administration of tomato fruit extracts and Fe tablets).
Results: Administration of 660 mg tomato extract for 10 days increased hemoglobin levels (p = 0.021), hematocrit levels (p = 0.032), and the number of erythrocytes (p = 0.006). P value> 0.005 means that there is a significant difference in the mean hemoglobin level, hematocrit, and the number of erythrocytes before and after treatment.
Conclusion: Administration of tomato extract with a dose of 660 mg and Fe 60 mg tablets for 10 days increased hemoglobin levels, hematocrit, and the number of erythrocytes was higher than the administration of Fe tablets.
