Maintaining oral hygiene is important, some ways of doing it mechanically and chemically. One example of cleaning your teeth in a mechanical way is to brush your teeth. The main purpose of brushing teeth is to maintain oral hygiene by removing plaque and other impurities attached to the tooth surface. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of brushing teeth with various types of bristle toothbrush in decreasing plaque score
This research is quasi-experiment with pre and post-test with three Group design. Research sample group A total of 30 students were taken by purposive sampling that students were taken with certain criteria, Variable influence of type of toothbrush bristle that is toothbrush Straight, concave and convex and variable affected Plaque score,
Statistical test Wilcoxon there is a significant change of pre and post-test value on tooth brushing treatment with Straight p-valuev=0.006 concave p- valuev=0,023 and convex feathers p-valuev=0.046 showed significant mean differences from all three groups in plaque reduction. Thus, for plumes straight plaque scores average score of 19.9. And then, for the feathers of Basin the average score of plaque is 27.9 As the result for the convex plumes the average plaque score is 35.0 There significant differences because straight and concave toothbrushes had effectiveness in plaque reduction.
