HUBUNGAN PENGETAHUAN DAN POLA MENYIKAT GIGI DENGAN TERJADINYA PLAK PADA SISWA SD NEGERI SAMBIROTO 02 SEMARANG

One of the efforts for public health is in the field of dental and oral health. One of factors in the occurrence of oral and oral dental health problems in community is the behavioral factor. This is due to a lack of knowledge of the importance on maintaining teeth and mouth. One factor in the occurence of caries is dental plaque. The purpose of this study is to determine the correlation of knowledge and tooth brushing pattern with the occurrence of plaque on students of SDN Sambiroto 02 Semarang.
The type of research used is observation with analytical survey methods. The study was conducted in SD Sambiroto 02 Semarang with a sample of 80 students. The instruments used are questionnaires and checks. The sampling technique used purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test.
The results showed that respondents who had a good tooth brushing pattern with having good knowledge as much as 64.3%, respondents, then respondents who had good plaque criteria with good knowledge is of 72.7% and respondents who had good plaque criteria with good tooth brushing patterns as much as 69.7%.
This study can be concluded that, the value of knowledge about the plaque, the respondents are included in the criteria of lacking with as many as 18 respondents (23%). The value score of the tooth brushing pattern of the respondents is included in the criteria of unfavorable as many as 38 respondents (38%). The plaque value score is included in the poor criteria, as many as 14 respondents (18%).
