Health care facilities are responsible for protecting the health information that contained in the medical records to the possibility of loss, damage, forgery and unauthorized access. Medical records may only be issued on the basis of authorized hospital authorities. the release of medical information must follow the applicable procedures, it aims to protect the hospital from further demands. One of the issues contained in the release of medical information of patients in RSUD Dr. H. Soewondo Kendal is not optimized the use of patient's written permission to third parties yet. This research aims to describe of the implementation for release of medical information to insurance parties in legal aspects in RSUD Dr. H. Soewondo Kendal.
Research methods in this research uses descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of this research are medicolegal officers and all requests for release of medical information to the insurer during the research are as objects in the research. the Methods of data collection through observation, interview, documentation study. Data processing is done by descriptive technique and presented in narrative form.
The results showed that RSUD Dr. H. Soewondo Kendal has received a request for the release of medical information from 16 PT. Insurance, in cooperation with 2 PT. Government Insurance / BUMN and 1 Private Insurance. The information release form used contains 9 Huffman elements in protecting the patient's privacy rights. The request for the release of medical information to the insurer under the Standards of Operational Procedures of the Management of Insurance, but the procedures used are not in appropriate with the Director's Policy on the Treatment of Getting Medical Information. So the use of written permission in each release of patient medical record information has not been implemented optimally.
