Belimbing wuluh and passion fruit is a plant that can be used as a
traditional medicine. Sour taste in starfruit and passion fruit is a chemical factor to
stimulate the speed of saliva secretion. Saliva is a complex, unsweetened mouth
fluid produced by the salivary glands. Saliva acidity is the cause of cavities. This
study aims to determine the difference of consuming starfruit and passion fruit
juice to salivary pH changes.
The type of research used is descriptive quantitative. The research
method used in this research is Quasi Experiment. The population in this study is
the residents of Bhakti Husada Dormitory, in this study large samples taken are 64
people with sampling technique with Simple Random Sampling.
The results showed the average salivary pH consuming starfruit juice
wuluh increased by 0.78 from 7.01 to 7.09 or from neutral to alkaline, while the
average saliva after consuming passion fruit juice increased by 0.66 Ie from 6.98
to 7.04 or from nertal to base. Conclusion consuming star fruit juice ciderumg
more effective to raise saliva pH than consuming passion fruit juice.
