In Dr. Soetomo Surabaya, Pelvis MRI protocol in cervical cancer cases using Sagital T2 sequence, T2 fat sat; Coronal T2; Axial T2, T1, T2 fat sat, axial DWI B 600; Without or with the use of contrast media. The use of contrast media requires the addition of examination, invasive, and contra indication time in patients with renal insufficiency, whereas the addition of DWI B600 sequences is able to show characterization, staging and therapeutic response to cervical cancer. The purpose of this study is to determine the optimization of pelvic MRI examination in cases of cervical cancer using DWI B600.
The type of this research is qualitative descriptive with case study approach. Methods of data collection is done by observation, interview with radiographer, radiologist and sending doctor. Data analysis is done by data collection, data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing. The subjects of this study were pelvic MRI examination procedure with cervical cancer cases using MRI 1.5 Tesla.
The oblique axial cutting technique of the DWI B600 sequence is made to display the uterus and mass expansion of the surrounding tissue so as to determine tumor characterization, staging, and therapeutic response. The weakness of DWI is the lack of anatomical features due to the emphasis of background noise, its advantage because of the high signal intensity of the restriction area featuring solid lesions and infiltration well. The addition of DWI B600 does not significantly affect the length of the examination compared to the addition of contrast media, thus benefiting patients with renal insufficiency and cost savings. However DWI should be correlated with other morphological sequence imaging to increase diagnostic value and avoid misinterpretation.
